Welcome to A.P.S!

Welcome to Alexandra Primary School.   We are a full primary school catering for students from Year 0 to Year 8 situated in a unique Central Otago environment.   We have approximately 180 students across 8 classrooms.

The school site has provided education for Alexandra families for over 140 years, and was initially established as a District High School.  We are now educating third and fourth generations from some families.

We believe that education throughout life (life-long learning) is developed from the foundation of four pillars: Learning to Know, Learning to Do, Learning to Be and Learning to Live Together (UNESCO Pillars of Learning).  These also link directly to the NZC vision of children being confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners. These pillars of learning are integral to our Vision for teaching and Learning and also links to our school values.

We are an excellent school with lovely children, an enthusiastic and capable staff, a supportive Board of Trustees, and an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA).  We endeavour to provide a wide variety of learning situations and experiences, and welcome the community into the school to share their skills and assist the staff.

We are fortunate to have Alexandra Kindergarten located on our grounds. We have a close relationship with our kindergarten  and this ensures a seamless transition to school.

If you would like to view the School or talk to a member of the team, please phone the school on (03) 4488340.
