Homework:

At Alexandra Primary we believe children need time to be creative and be immersed in the community they live in. Children need time to be children….

There is no set homework for children but we do believe reading and basic facts each night is a great life long habit. Children may choose to ‘flip’ their classroom learning and carry on at home.

Digital Technology

At Alexandra Primary, we encourage children to bring their own device to school to help support their learning. We do recommend Chromebooks as we believe they are a good choice long term, but this is a family choice. However, this is not an expectation and please do not feel obliged to purchase a device for your child. We are using technology in a variety of ways in the classroom and some children bring their own device from home to support this.

Keep up to date:

Our school newsletter published every fortnight (emailed) and each class has their own weekly class newsletters. This ensures parents are kept up to date with events, class learning focuses and celebrations of learning successes.

Linc-ed

This is our schools management system, It is a digital platform for parents, children and staff. Children have goals based assessment that you will see in real time and children and staff with add evidence to show progress. This is a great way to ‘be in the know’ with your child's learning and your child's teacher is always only a phone call, email, or chat away!

When your child starts school you will be given a step by step guide on how to view your child’s learning.

Uniform:

Uniform can be purchased at The Warehouse. There is also a selection of second hand uniform in the office.

School Visits:

If you are about to have a 5 year old in your home We would LOVE you to make contact. We have a list of new entrants and you will be made contact with around 8 weeks prior to their birthday. We like to start with a welcome tour around the school then followed by meeting the class teacher and making dates and times for school visits. Children at Alexandra Primary start school on their birthday. We are flexible on tchool visits for your child. We understand that every child is different and will therefore vary in the number of visits they require.

Year 8 Buddy:

When your child starts school they will be assigned a Year 8 buddy for the year. This is a special relationship that develops over the year. Buddies regularly come to do a range activities with the New Entrants.

Lunch

We have a pie warmer at school if you want to send along a hot lunch wrapped in tin foil and named this will be collected in the morning and put in the pie warmer by older children and delivered at lunch time. Sausage sizzle on fridays a note comes out on a monday and has to be returned by thursday.

Enviroschool:

Alexandra Primary is an Enviro School. This means we do our best to look after our environment and look at ways we can reduce, reuse or recycle. There are no rubbish bins at school, however we recycle paper and cardboard and have food scraps buckets. Instead we encourage children’s lunchboxes to be packaged as environmentally friendly as possible and all rubbish is sent back home in your child’s lunchbox.
